1. Who we are

NextBand English is an online tutoring business based in Nigeria ("we", "us", "our"). Classes are taught by Teacher J.

You can reach us on WhatsApp or through the Ask us form on this website.

2. We are not the exam provider

NextBand English is independent. We are not connected to, approved by or working for IDP, the British Council, Cambridge University Press and Assessment, or Pearson.

Our practice questions are written by us. They follow the layout, question types and timing of the real exams, but they are not official tests, and our marks and feedback are not official scores.

IELTS and PTE Academic are trademarks of their owners and are used here only to describe the exams we teach.

3. No guaranteed score

We teach, give feedback and plan your study with you. We cannot promise any band or score, because your result depends on your starting level, the work you do and your performance on the day.

The study roadmap is a guide built from the official exam format and the information you give us. It is not a promise that you will reach your target by a certain date.

4. Booking and payment

• Prices are in US dollars and paid in advance through Gumroad (gumroad.com), by card or another method Gumroad offers you. Class packages and the NextBand Room renew every 4 weeks until you cancel, which you can do at any time from your Gumroad receipt or account. Your bank may charge its own conversion or card fees.
• The currency converter on this website shows an estimate at today's rate. The amount charged is always the US dollar price.
• You choose your exam, skills and class time on our booking page, then pay on Gumroad. Classes must be booked at least 24 hours ahead. Group places go in the order people pay, until the group is full. A booking that is not paid is not a place.
• Your place is confirmed once payment is received. We send your class link within 24 hours. Cancellations after that follow our refund policy.
• A new group starts on the 4th of every month. Duo, 1:1 and Diagnostic times are agreed at booking.
• Each package is a 4 week block. It covers the classes listed for it in those 4 weeks. You pay for each block in advance, and a block does not renew by itself.
• Group classes run on their start date whatever the size of the group.
• Refunds, moving classes, missed classes and late arrival are covered by our Refund, cancellation and attendance policy, which is part of these terms.

5. Classes

• Classes are live on Microsoft Teams. Your class link is sent to you on WhatsApp before your first class.
• Class times are set in US Eastern Time (New York), and the website also shows each time in your own time zone. Please check the time before your first class.
• Groups are split by exam, so everyone in a class is preparing for the same test.
• Some classes are recorded so students can go back over them. Recordings are for your own study, and they are deleted at the end of each week.

6. Diagnostic test and NextBand Room links

Each link and password is personal. Do not share them. A diagnostic link works for 60 minutes from when we send it. A NextBand Room link works for the minutes and dates we give you.

We may stop a link that has been shared, without a refund.

Test time is kept on our server. Once you press Start, the clock keeps running, even if you refresh the page, close it or change device, and it never restarts. Your typed answers are saved as you go and sent to your teacher when the time ends.

The tests work best in an up to date Chrome, Edge or Safari with headphones and a working microphone. If the audio does not play, message us straight away.

7. Interactive e-books

• An e-book is a personal licence for one person. After payment we send your private link and password by email and WhatsApp, usually within 2 to 4 hours.
• You must open your link within 30 days. From the first time you open it, you have 5 days of access with up to 90 minutes a day. The days follow the US Eastern calendar: day 1 is the day you first open the book, and each day ends at midnight US Eastern Time, even if you start late in the day. The book shows you this before your 5 days start. Minutes you do not use on a day do not carry over. After day 5 the book locks.
• The final test inside the book opens when you finish every chapter, or on day 5. You have until the end of day 6 (midnight US Eastern Time) to take it. You can take it once. When you submit, it locks and you see your answers and the reasons. If you do not take it by the end of day 6, it locks and cannot be reopened.
• Writing and Speaking e-books include the marked tasks or recordings stated on the product page. Send them before your access ends. We return feedback, based on the official band descriptors, within 48 hours (2 working days).
• The book works on up to 2 devices. Do not share your link, password, screenshots or copies of the content. We may stop a book that has been shared, without a refund.
• Cancelling an e-book before and after you open it is covered by our refund policy. If your link does not work, message us and we will fix it.

8. How you behave in class

Be respectful to the teacher and other students. Do not record live classes yourself, and do not share class recordings, materials, links or other students' details.

We may remove a student from a group for repeated disruption. Our refund policy explains what happens to the payment.

9. Our materials

Lessons, practice questions, feedback, roadmaps and everything on this website belong to NextBand English. You may use them for your own study. You may not copy, sell, share or publish them, or use them to teach others.

10. Students under 18

We accept students under 18. A parent or guardian must sign our consent form before the first class. By signing, they agree to these terms, make or approve the payment, and agree to class recordings and to us keeping the student's tests and recordings as our Privacy policy explains.

11. Technology

You need a stable internet connection, a device with a microphone and headphones. If a class is lost because of a problem on our side, we give you a replacement class. Problems on your side, such as your connection, count as a missed class.

12. Our responsibility to you

We teach with reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for exam results, visa, admission or registration decisions, or any loss you have because of them.

As far as the law allows, our total responsibility to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the last month. Nothing in these terms limits anything the law does not allow us to limit.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The version on the website on the day you pay applies to that payment. The date at the top shows when they last changed.

14. Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. If we disagree about something, we will first try to settle it by talking to you directly.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
