Find out exactly what is holding your score back
Before we plan a single lesson, we want to see you work under exam conditions. Then we tell you, in plain words, what is costing you marks and what to fix first.
We are not selling you another mock test
There are already useful free and paid mock tests, and AI tools that point out weak areas. Use them. A mock tells you how you did on that mock. The Diagnostic is for when you need someone to connect those results to your own performance and decide what deserves attention first.
Tell us your last scores if you have them, your target and your exam date. Then you sit a 40 minute timed test in the skills you choose. Teacher J reads every answer and listens to every recording herself, as a teacher, not as another scoring tool. You leave knowing what should move to the top of your preparation and what can wait.
First attempt? The aim is to find the gaps before the official test does. Your first paid attempt should not be your first proper check.
Retaking? The aim is to understand what needs to change before you pay another exam fee. If the preparation does not change, the result may not change either.

Who this test is for
Three kinds of people book the diagnostic. See if one of them sounds like you.
6.5, then 6
You got 6.5 in Writing, you studied, you sat it again and got 6. Your score report shows the number, but it cannot tell you why. The diagnostic shows the why.
Fix it before you rebook
The exam costs a lot. Before you pay for another one, find out exactly what to fix, so the next attempt is not another guess.
See your strong and weak points
You have never sat IELTS or PTE. You want to know where you stand today, so your roadmap is built around you and not around everybody else.
Because another score may not be what you need
Knowing what is wrong is not the same as knowing how to change it. The Diagnostic costs much less than an exam fee, and it tells you what to work on before the fee is on the line, whether this is your first attempt or your next one.
- A teacher, not another scoring tool. Teacher J reads every answer and listens to every recording herself.
- Checked against the official criteria. For IELTS, we use the public band descriptors for Writing and Speaking. For PTE Academic, we use the scoring criteria Pearson publishes for each task. In Listening and Reading, we look at which question types you get wrong, and why.
- Measured against your target. We show you the gap between where you are now and the score you need, skill by skill.
- One clear first step. We tell you exactly what to fix first, so your next weeks of study go where the marks are.
To be honest with you: this is not an official IELTS or PTE score, and it does not guarantee an official result. It is a short test, so we give you an estimate and a clear direction, not a promise.
Diagnostic test
- IELTS Academic, IELTS General Training or PTE Academic
- Choose 1 to 4 skills. We share the 40 minutes between them: one skill gets all 40, two get 20 each, three get about 13 each, four get 10 each.
- It runs like the computer exam: timed, one way only, no going back.
- Your teacher listens to every recording and reads every answer. No machine marking. We check your work against the official public marking criteria and your target score.
- Within 48 hours you get your feedback: what you do well, what is costing you marks, how far you are from your target, and what to fix first.
- If you then join a class, we plan your lessons from this test.
