Privacy policy
What we collect when you use nextbandenglish.com or take classes with us, why we need it, how long we keep it, and what you can ask us to do with it. NextBand English, based in Nigeria, is responsible for your data, and we follow the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.

1. What we collect and why

We only ask for what we need. We do not ask for your passport, ID number or exam account password, and we ask you not to send them.
2. Our reasons for using your data
- To give you what you paid for. Classes, tests, feedback and your roadmap need your details and your work.
- Your consent. Voice recordings, class recordings and the details of students under 18. You can take your consent back at any time, but we may then be unable to mark speaking work or record your classes.
- The law. Payment records we must keep for tax.
3. Where it is kept and who helps us

Some of these services store data outside Nigeria, for example in Europe or the United States. We only use large providers that protect data with their own security measures and contracts.
4. How long we keep it

5. How we keep it safe
Only NextBand English can open the storage account, and it is protected with a strong password and two step sign in. Test links are personal, end after a set time and need a password. We never post your work anywhere public.
If we ever find a breach that puts you at risk, we tell you and the Nigeria Data Protection Commission as the law requires.
6. Things saved on your own device
This website saves a few small items in your browser only: your chosen language, your chosen currency, today's exchange rates, your booking details between the booking page and the thank you page, and your progress in a test so a refresh does not lose your place. They are not sent to us and you can clear them in your browser settings.
We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels.
7. Exchange rates and fonts
The currency converter asks open.er-api.com, or a backup rate service on jsDelivr, for today's rates. The site loads its font from Google Fonts. These services see your IP address, as with any website you visit.
8. Who we share it with
We do not sell your data or share it for marketing. We only share it with the services above, which we need to run the business, or when the law requires it. We never share your tests or recordings with other students.
9. Your rights
You can ask us to:
- show you the data we hold about you and give you a copy
- correct anything that is wrong
- delete your data, unless the law says we must keep it
- stop using your data for something, or take back your consent
Send the request through the Ask us form or on WhatsApp. We may ask you to confirm who you are. We reply within 24 hours and complete the request within 30 days. If you are not happy with how we handled it, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
10. Students under 18
We accept students under 18 only after a parent or guardian signs our consent form. The parent or guardian can use any of the rights above for the student.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we update the date at the top. If the change is important, we also tell current students on WhatsApp.
